Ms access rowsource not updating
For information about entering new data in a database, see the article Add one or more records to a database.Read this section if you are new to Access or unfamiliar with the concepts behind relational databases.Instead, a typical Access database is a a collection of tables, plus a set of objects built around those tables — forms, reports, queries, and so on.
As you proceed, remember that updating data is not the same process as entering new data.
The first field is "Sector." The second is "Industry." The values in the "Industry" combo box list will be different depending on which Sector is selected. ......[cbx Sector ID] is different than when I'm using the form - because I have the form embedded in a Navigation Form. However, when I'm using the form in the navigational panel, it needs to say [Forms]! Risk Type could be "percent based" or "specific amount." Depending on which is selected, I want Risk Value to be formatted as a percent or as currency. However - again - Set Property doesn't appear to allow changes to Format. I would suggest you make a home page instead of the navigation/subform.
Currently, when a user changes the Sector value: The Requery of Industry works because the Row Source looks at the INDUSTRY_TBL and grabs Industry ID and Descr where Sector ID = [Forms]! Therefore, if I'm just opening THIS form in design view, the Row Source of Industry ID needs to say [Forms]! Is there a way to do this in Macros that anybody knows of (straight forward OR workaround approach)??? The home page would have buttons that then use the onclick event to fire a macro that opens your form.
This solution is best for simple lists where there is only one field, such as choosing a category.
You must set the combo's Limit To List property to Yes, or the Limit To List event won't fire.
